Hello!
I'm Maithili Shingre, a type designer, calligrapher, lettering artist and open-type programmer from Mumbai, India.
After completing my graduation from Sir J.J. institute of Applied art, with specialisation in typography, calligraphy and lettering, I started working with Ek Type in 2013. After dedicating over a decade of my career to this esteemed foundry, I am now working as an independent designer.
While my specialization lies in Devanagari and Malayalam scripts, my expertise extends beyond them. I have designed and developed fonts in various other scripts such as Latin, Kannada, Telugu, Meitei Mayek, and have also made significant contributions to Gujarati and Gurmukhi script typefaces. During my tenure at Ek Type, I have mentored several interns and designers as well.
Some of my most renowned typefaces include, Modak (Devanagari), Baloo 2 (Latin, Malayalam, Telugu), Jaini (Devanagari) and Anek (Malayalam, Kannada), which are available on Google fonts and Apple.
