It started as a lettering experiment where I was exploring high contrast letters but with a twist of intersecting lines. And then emerged these luscious letters and I couldn't stop myself from designing the whole typeface.
Presenting Mangosteen. A single weight Malayalam display typeface with an unconventional contrast.
Mangosteen has curved verticals, drop like terminals and an amalgamation of sharp and soft curves that add a lively bounce and a unique flavour to the typeface. But it has straight horizontals, that make the letters seamlessly flow into words, evoking a sense of comfort and cosiness.
Perfect for titles and short sentences, this feel good, soothing and captivating design with added fleurons and motifs, can lend its style to local brands, adorn pages of magazines, add charm to romantic movie posters and add a special touch to cards and invites. To be honest, possibilities are endless!
